NEVER...EVER SAY "NEVER"...AGAIN. EDDIE RETURNS TO SNL Words By Raymond Tyler

The last thing I read before I went to bed last night still has me smiling.

Reading that Eddie Murphy was returning to Saturday Night Live was like finding money in the street.

I have reserved to myself to believing that after reports that Murphy took a great joke by David Spade super personal and after numerous appearances at The SNL Anniversary Shows that Murphy had basically put SNL forever behind him.

I never liked that choice but understood.

Eddie Murphy was in the next to last class of true ROCK STARS in my book.

Eddie for decades has been bigger than Saturday Night Live and still may be.

Infact for those that don't know...Eddie may be the reason that SNL survived at all after the original cast moved on. And has been the only member after the original cast to be as big or bigger than Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi.

I also understand why he came back.
Life, loss, wins and losses and loving makes you change your mind.

I will most likely throw a private watch event for this....

I am already setting my expectations for a great surprise ...hoping that like when Richard Pryor hosted SNL,  Murphy will bring Black Hollywood and extra special guests like Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock.

I am however, also managing my expectations...I was so young and so junior high when Eddie created Gumby and Mr. Robinson. Not many people can recapture that lightning.

I recall seeing The Jacksons perform I Want You Back in their 30's and I was underwhelmed...I had to face the cold facts that I had missed The Jackson 5 and they wasn't coming back. Still when they performed I Want You Back in their 50's at their 30th Anniversary show...I appreciated that they still had the moves and enjoyed the music. And that they were enjoying the music...maybe MORE than when they were first at Motown.

I have no idea how Eddie Murphy will do...but I am there for all of it and if I was young I would want to be in the audience (at my age I so do not...)

I do pray he above all enjoys the experience and that perhaps Murphy, Keenan Wayans and Robert Townsend will do another stand up comedy film (that I will be in the audience for.)

Eddie if you read this JUST HAVE FUN....

Camden County Library is Now Fine Free

The Camden County Library System is eliminating fines for all overdue items as of July 1.
The library's mission is to provide equal access to information, services, and opportunities that empower, enrich, and enhance the quality of life for all. Eliminating overdue fees will further that mission by removing a significant barrier to the library's resources, county officials said.
"Camden County is joining with several other progressive communities around the country in removing this antiquated barrier to the services provided by the Library," Freeholder Melinda Kane, liaison to the Camden County Library System, said. "We should not be punishing individuals who want to read or learn, but instead be finding ways to encourage members of our community to utilize these valuable resources. With this change, economic security will no longer limit the capacity of families and children to learn in Camden County."
As of July 1, all outstanding overdue fees at each of Camden County's eight library branches will be forgiven as long as the overdue item has been returned or paid for. Some high demand items with limited availability, such as Grab and Go items and Museum Passes, will continue to utilize extended use fees. Materials that are owned by other libraries and borrowed through Interlibrary Loan will still be subject to fines.
The library will still utilize due dates on the materials it loans to members. After materials are due, members will maintain their standard borrowing privileges for 14 days. If after 14 days the item(s) has not been returned, then that member will lose their borrowing privileges until that item is returned or until the member has paid to replace it.
Many of the library's constituents struggle to afford an overdue fee for a book or video that they've failed to return. Instead of returning the items, fees tend to discourage these residents from returning to the library, officials said. Officials believe that eliminating fees will mean eliminating the need for families to choose between the library's services and their financial security.

"There's a sense of shame and embarrassment that people feel when they walk into a library knowing that they have dozens or hundreds of dollars built up in unpaid fines. We've found that this feeling is not motivating, but is debilitating," Kane said. "Eliminating overdue fees does not mean that individuals who loan materials are devoid of responsibility for their items. It means that financially vulnerable members of our community aren't cut off from our resources."
"The Camden County Library System is committed to delivering critical resources to the communities it serves. Those resources include traditional items like books and periodicals, but also modern necessities such as access to a reliable internet connection and computer technology," Camden County Library Director Linda Devlin said. "Eliminating overdue fees and penalties will not affect our ability to deliver that goal. The revenue we derive from fines and fees represents just one quarter of one percent of the library's annual budget."

BELLE BRETT – GINA’S FLOATING WORLD: REFLECTIONS OF JAPAN

JULY 4-27, 2019 – RECEPTION JULY 19, 2019 from 5-7PM
BOOK TALK – GINA IN THE FLOATING WORLD – JULY 24, 3:00 & 6:00 PM

Art By Belle Brett

On Wednesday July 4 th , Great Bay Gallery opens the exhibit Gina’s Floating World:
Reflections of Japan by writer and artist Belle Brett of Somerville, Massachusetts (named
for the same Somers family as Somers Point). Belle’s recently published novel, Gina in the
Floating World, set in1981 in Japan, serves as the source of inspiration for her series of
collages, watercolors and photographs which will be on exhibit at the Gallery, 829 Bay
Avenue, Somers Point until July 27.
In her artistic career, Brett initially focused on photography and darkroom techniques.
More recently, collages, mixed media and watercolor painting have joined photography as
mainstays of her artistic expression.
Belle Brett’s first novel, Gina in the Floating World, was published by She Writes Press in
September 2018; it tells the story of a young American who undertakes a bank internship
in Tokyo who finds herself exploring the darker side of the culture. The story was inspired
by Belle’s own stint as a bar hostess in Japan when she was in her 20’s. Kirkus Reviews calls
the book “a sharply observed and unforgettable debut”. The novel was a finalist for a Sarton
Women’s Book Award in Contemporary Fiction.
Brett writes “Gina in the Floating World” inspired me to create this exhibit as a reflection of
different scenarios in the novel or aspects of Japanese culture, using collageas the
dominant medium since it is the most abstract of my art forms.
In this unusual exhibit of abstract forms that document the Japanese experience, Belle Brett
brings to the Jersey Shore an opportunity for art lovers, literary enthusiasts and the
continuously curious to explore Belle Brett’s experiences. See more about Belle Brett’s art
at www.bellebretstudio.com and writing at www.bellebrett.com.
Gina in the Floating World Book Talk and Discussion will be held on Wednesday July 24
with seating at 3:00 or 6:00pm. Seating is limited and reservations should be made by
calling 609-653-499; email: katharleth@hotmail.com. The event is free and open to the

5 REASONS TO GO TO TONIGHT'S STREET LIFE CONCERT

WORDS BY RAYMOND TYLER

Tonight! June 19th at Harrah’s Resort, the Hansen Foundation presents the 14th Annual Street Life Concert produced and directed by Waynard Scheller of Rainbow Full of Sound to help provide a supportive and safe environment for people recovering from substance use disorders through Resident Scholarships and supplemental needs for our life-saving endeavors…through our Serenity Houses and Serenity Estates, Hope Farm and Enlightened CafĂ©.

The Street Life Concert brings together some of the east coast's most accomplished singers and musicians who generously donate their time, exceptional talent, and celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Woodstock!

HERE ARE 5 REASONS TO ATTEND TONIGHT!

5. Affordable Live Music For what you might pay to hear one band that you never heard of before, doing music that might be good? You get a full concert of diverse music...celebrating one theme. WOODSTOCK! 4. The Best Music Live and Affordable These musicians that donate their time to The Street Life Concert are not fresh from their garage or piano recital. I have enjoyed myself the last 5 years and the musicians have played and sang in bands from coast to coast. We are talking TOP OF THE SHELF TALENT! So again, if you paid to experience this show any other night it would put a serious dent in your wallet. 3. Eddie Bruce- Yes every year the former host of Dancin on Air..is involved. He brings even more energy. 2. The 50th Anniversary of Wood Stock- No you can't get high at this show. However, we are talking about witnessing live presentations of music that defined one of the most creative generations ever...Janice Joplin ...Jimi Hendrix..Santana and more. To hear this music being played live in the Harrah's concert venue will be amazing.

1. The Hanson House Helps People...I hope I do not have to add to that. If you are interested in having a great time with live music tonight? I can't endorse a better event this week.
