Uncle Ray's Secret Juke Box: Stevie Wonder's All In Love Is Fair

MORE HAUNTING THAN "THRILLER"

First of all let's clear one thing up....if not for Song's In The Key Of Life....INNERVISIONS would be one of the greatest recordings ever made.

Innervisions is.
However it is unfair to Michael, Prince and The Beatles (and all the rest) to rate all of Stevie's music where it truly belongs in recording history.
Let's just say he was a king in the 1970's.

The single All In Love Is fair has always haunted me. I was 5 years old in 1973 when the song was released as part of Innervisions ...so at the time it was not a song I was checking for.

Still the title...All In Love Is Far....I knew it was a play on the phrase All Is Fair In Love and War....

The title spooked me even as a kid.
I wouldn't play it because I just knew it would be heavy and so I stayed close to that classic Jackson 5.

Decades later and several relations in the can.
The song still haunts me more than MJ's Thriller.

I would rather face The Wolfman and the zombie apocalypse than face the reality that plays when I hear Stevie's voice singing "All In Love is Fair...Love's a Crazy game...."

His voice is young, masculine, yet fragile.
Personally. I think about the women that hurt me...and whether they meant to or whether I am just another causality of love.
I think about the women I hurt even though when I met them I just wanted to share in their happiness.

When he sings "I had to go away"....man....(I Can't Even...)

In a song that wields truth like a weapon ....Stevie adds...
"All in war is cold...you either win or lose"...

Everytime I hear this song...it takes me back to different moments none of them happy or unhurtful but all of them were needed for me to be who I am today.

Loving Myself.
Currently ...Alone...
Uncertain about My Future Love Life as I have every been....
"The Writer Takes His Pen...
To Write The Words Again...
That All In Love Is Fair....."
